Vision


Nationally established as a National Statistical Institute.


 


Mission


To provide accurate and up-to-date statistics on population, agriculture, national income and trade, health and nutrition, industry and labor as per the requirements of Bangladesh government. Besides, information and data collected by conducting research/survey work is published and provided as per the needs of policy makers, planners, educators, administrators, researchers and civil society.


 


Services:


 


Publication of monthly statistical bulletins, annual statistical pocketbooks and year books containing various essential information of the country;

Conduct and publish reports on census, agricultural census and economic census every ten years;

Compilation and publication of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and growth rates along with other macroeconomic indicators such as savings, investment, consumption, per capita income, etc.;

Compilation and publication of monthly Consumer Price Index (CPI) disaggregating non-food items used in daily life of consumers;

preparation and publication of foreign trade statistics;

Preparation and publication of wage rates and wage indices for workers engaged in various occupations;

Prepare and publish statistics on production of various crops and amount of land under crop and land use;

Collection, compilation and publication of information on child nutrition and child conditions;

Preparation and publication of Gender Statistics to improve the socio-economic status of women with the aim of development and empowerment; And

Prepare and publish information on the poverty situation of the country by conducting food income and expenditure determination surveys.
