Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics was established in 1974 as the national statistical agency of Bangladesh. Meanwhile, Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics has been established locally and internationally as a national statistical institution. Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics is responsible for providing technical and administrative guidance on statistical matters of the country and also acts as the implementing agency for all statistical programs. It collects, compiles, analyzes, processes and publishes research reports on all types of statistical data of the country. Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics has established a network of offices at the Dhaka Head Office field level, Divisional, District, Upazila and Thana levels to implement its activities. Currently, there are 64 District Statistical Offices, 482 Upazilas and 69 Metropolitan Thana Statistical Office branches in the larger 64 districts of Bangladesh. Office of the Deputy Director, District Statistics Office, Dhaka is one of them.
